Pray For Chile.

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Chile early Saturday morning. I wonder what mother nature is trying to tell us, first Haiti and now Chile? This is madness. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is effected by this tragedy. We, as in he entire world, need to do a better job of taking care f the enviornment. I know this was a natural disaster, but we still need to do a much better job of keeping the Eart clean and live.. bcause right now, thigs aren't looking great for future generations. But back to Chile, as soon as i hear word on possible sources for LEGIT donations, i will post it. Read more here.

Starbucks

Something about this liquid crack in caffinated form that pretty much has me addicited. I wake up every morning during the week and pay absurd amounts of money on coffee. I remember when I was younger, i absolutely depised the slight taste of coffee, now, i feel as if I can't function in class without it. I wonder if it could just be the marketing of the actual Starbucks brand that has me hooked.. whatever it is, I love it.

every n.e.r.d's dream:

Man, i remember when Lupe first dropped this track. It was worth 4:39 of amazingness, every hopeless band geeks dream.. the high school hottiefalling for them. And although the story was very very unlikely, you still couldn't help but relate to it..

I can speak for myself when i say i was never in the "in crowd" in high school. In New Jersey i was the black kid that acted too white and wore his clothes too tight, in North Carolina i was the black kid that wasn't black enough or white enough. I never really got to ejoy the high school experience you'd see in most 90's era teen movies. I always caught myself wanting to talk to the "it" girl at my school senior year, i never thought she'd eve be interested in the comic book reading, poetry writing geek like me. Well, i was wrong. I'll never forget this, right before Thanksgiving '07.. i got a MySpace message (yes, myspace) from that it girl, it read "hey, i kinda sorta like you alot". I smiled from cheek to cheek, even read the message 8 or 9 times before i completely took it all in. After that, i never lost confidence in terms of talking to girls. Guys, never feel like you aren't good enough to talk to a girl you're interested in. If you can hold a conversation, you'll be able to grab her attention. Just don't do too much too soon, and DO NOT act like someone you're not. Theres no reason a lady shouldn't have themselves a real gentleman

craving the best.

For those of you who have no idea what White Castle is, go ahead and kill yourself now please..
I'm kinda kidding, but for those of you who have never had the White Castle experience, I feel pretty bad for you. These beauties taste even better then they look. They were the food of choice for me back in New Jersey, (they even filmed the movie Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle in my hometown). They do not have a single White Castle franchise in the south.. this bugs the hell out of me, i hate craving something i cannot have.. :[ someone open up a White Castle or a 7-11 down here in Charlotte ASAP!

Video:"Nas Illmatic Promo"

I watched this promo video last night for the 9 millionth time and still felt like I wanted to run out the door and cop Illmatic as if I had never heard it before. There was just something special about producers like Large Pro, Primo, Q-Tip, Pete Rock, and L.E.S., all getting behind Nas and ensuring his first album would be a Hip Hop classic. If by chance you haven't seen this video, please watch and enjoy. If you've already seen it, watch it again to remind yourself why you love this music so much.

Track Of The Day

History ft. Talib Kweli by Mos Def
off the album:
The Ecstatic by Mos Def

Favorite song off the whole album, besides Auditorium w/ Slick Rick. I wish Mos & Talib would come back out and do another Blackstar album, ohh how amazing life would be. Of course, the radio and the newer generation of "hip hop" would'nt fully appreciate such a genius idea.. -sigh-..

Common:"Next Time"

His last album, Universal Mind Control, marked the end of underground Common. I miss the sound he has back in Like Water For Chocolate. He's stil one of my favorite MC's. His latest track, produced by Mr.West, does not dissapoint. Actually listened to it a few times since it dropped. I'm really really really trying to stay away from posting new music drops on my blog, but if i'm adament about something then i feel obliged to share. Well, here it is.. download link after the video.

Pharrell Williams

If you've known me for a long while, like dating back to elementary school.. you'll know i'm a big Pharrell Williams fan. From his music with many many famous artists and his band N.E.R.D, to the mark he's made on the fashion industry. The man takes things, and goes above and beyond with it. He's a modern day genius, transcending the norm and completely creating something original. He's also a huge influence with alot of things, including me persuing my art. Many people can learn alot from the guy, and I don't personally believe in role models or idols being people outside your family, but he can definitely be considered a role model and idol to many many young men and women like myself. If you've never heard him speak about anything he's done, then here you go. Theres more to te guy than many people know.

boom boom tap..

"hearts racing a mile a minute
shouldn't have taken that pill
she has a twin?
nah..thats just my blurred vision"

Thats just a small bit of a "poem" i wrote a few years back after a bad trip experience. Drugs played a huge role in my life back in high school. I abused everything you can think of. Pills, Weed, Alcohal, Cough Syrup you name it, i did it. I used to take Acid hits, LSD hits and shroomed during shroom season. I guess you coulda called me a stoner. It was bad, and it got to the point where i really didn't wanna get high anymore, but i had to take the drugs to function. Crazy what off the wall madness would come into my head at these times. These drugs actually opened my eyes to a million different things. I learned to love life and appreciate the smaller things in life. I did these drugs with kids who didn't come up with silver spoons in their mouths. Kids who pretty much raised themselves. These guys and girls all helped me appreciate things i took for granted. As much as drugs tore apart my life, they also opened me up to a new way of thinking.. a way i still think today. "Keep your mind open, along with a notebook" I'll never forget when my boy Kaleb said those words to me. Inspired me to write everyday. I'll never forget that kid, he passed on about 8 months ago.. while sober, he was shot and killed by his ex when he threw away her drugs. I'll keep that quote in my mind forever, it's still an inspiration to me to this day.

Curren$y:"Smokee Robinson" Mixtape

Finally decided to give this a listen. All in all, it's straight. He's definitely put out better material. All the tracks flowed through nicely, and it's definitely a real treat for my stoner friends. I'd give it a listen, can't guarentee that you'll like it! I'd write more, but people usually disagree with my opinion. I'll let ya'll be the judge! I give it 3 out of 5.

Marjuana

I don’t really want to start a huge debate.

I, too, think it’s stupid when people glorify it.

I admit to smoking but that’s it, if you want to have a conversation about it, YOU have to bring it up.

I’m getting away from my point.

For those hardcore anti-marijuana people, have you even tried it?

I think it’s really hypocritical about a certain subject without ever experiencing it.

It’s like debating on Christianity without ever having read the bible.

Now I can understand if you’ve had a family member/close friend have a serious tragedy happen to them because of it but for those who haven’t, why so much hostility?

Why can’t people who do just live their lives and not be looked down upon in society?

Wake UP!

Everyone says they regret something about their past. Honestly, you shouldn't regret it. You might be upset with the decision you made, but you learned from it.. and hopefully, you won't make the same mistake again. But for people that keep doing the same dumb shit we did back in high school, it's time to grow up. For real, let's think about it.. Class of 08, we're all 19/20 years old right now.. we're either working or in school. STOP acting like you did back in high school. Times have changed, these next few years will be the begining of the rest of your life. The decisions you make now will forever be stuck with you. For the dudes out there, if you get a female pregnant, take care of your child. If your man enough to fuck, your man enough to take care of your child. Ladies, respect yourself. So many girls throw themselves at dudes, it's pretty damn disgusting too. Honestly, i have no room to talk, seeing as i'm going through a learning process myself, but at least i'm manning up to it. I dare you all to do the same.

Shepard Fairey:"Relief for Haiti Print"

This print was made for www.artistsforpeaceandjustice.com. This is a collaboration with Studio Number One’s Cleon Peterson, Casey Ryder and Shepard Fairey. Photography by Tao Ruspoli. All proceeds of the sale of this print go to Haiti. I'm a huge fan of his political art, his Obama print will definitely be one of the most famous prints ever.

Took A Hiatus

From my personal blog, i don't know why. But i'm back. So much has happened since i last wrote on here. Some good, some bad. Honestly, i'm ready for something new. I'm ready to meet new people, network and begin writing my future. I feel like i can do that here in Charlotte, but i need to surround myself with a new group of more positive people. I feel like my friends want me to succeed, but can care less about how i do it. Everyone is into working hella hours at a boring job, thats not me. I want to make money doing something constructive, being my own boss. I go to school full time for a reason, i don't need any of you breathing down my neck about getting a job. Sure, i'll have money and could probably get my own place sooner, but i'm concentrating on me right now. I won't be able to get a good job without a degree, so you guys can waste your life away working a the food court in the mall. I have a plan, theres a method to my way of thinking..
